In 2013, Palash Mahmud served as President of the Jahangirnagar University Journalist Association (JUJA). This body of campus journalists plays an important role in the professional development of student reporters, protecting their rights and maintaining the flow of campus news.
Leading this organisation as a student laid a strong foundation for his professional career in journalism — it was here that he gained the early skills of running an organisation, building teams and managing news media, which later served him in national-level newsroom leadership.
