Frequently asked questions
Which calendar is used?
The Bangladesh revised Bangla calendar (with the 2019 reform): Pohela Boishakh is 14 April; the first six months (Boishakh–Ashwin) have 31 days, the rest 30, except Falgun with 29 (30 in leap years). So 21 February is always 8 Falgun, 26 March 12 Choitro and 16 December 1 Poush. It may differ by a day or two from the Indian calendar.
How is the Bangla year found?
Subtract 593 from the Gregorian year for dates from 14 April onward, and 594 for 1 January–13 April.
Is it enough for official documents?
It helps cross-check dates. For official records, the relevant office's rules prevail.
